The play ‘Mother Of All The Peoples’ returned one last time at the Dundee Rep Theatre for three evenings.

With humour and pathos ‘Mother of all the Peoples’ tells the story of Mary Slessor’s journey from working 58 hours a week in a jute mill, in the slums of Dundee, to the darkest jungles of Calabar, Nigeria, where danger and disease lurked around every corner.

Based on the book “The Barefoot Missionary” by Elizabeth Robertson, ‘Mother of all the Peoples’ takes the audience back in time with Mary (now in her latter days) as she reflects on her inauspicious beginnings and unlikely journey to Africa. Following in the footsteps of David Livingstone, Mary Slessor embarked on a journey that would change not just her life, but the lives of many. This incredible story of bravery and triumph is told through the shy and modest figure of Mary Slessor herself who gave all credit  to her acheivements to God.

The original Dundee cast of the play reuinted one last time on the centenary year of Mary’s death.
